( Le Mont Saint Michel Abbey )
St. Michel
St. Michel
Le Mont Saint Michel Abbey
Is one of the most stunning sights
in France.
Located in northwestern of France, Normandy,
gulf of St. Malo.
The beach up to 15 kilometers,
connected Atlantic east coast.
People say that
St. Aubert - Bishop of Avranches,
he dreamed of angel St. Michel three times,
instructed him to build abbey.
( According to revelation of the
New Testament, angel St. Michel once defeated the symbolic demon dragon )
For believers, St. Michel was the angel led the way
for the dead and judge the soul at the day of the
last judgment.
Construction began in 708 AD.
Architect based to the shape of the pyramid
of the mountain
built upwards around the granite rock mountain.
And then monastery built afterwards.
Until thirteenth century,
Gothic architecture formed two three-story buildings combined with the abbey.
Complete the southern building
in the eighteenth century,
the overall project has gone through hundreds of years.
Walked on the 760-meter-long pedestrian bridge,
the elegant mountain city in the drizzle was
getting closer...
Climbed up along the green hillside.
The crowds were surging and lively in winding mountain trails.
Stepped into a stately abbey,
caught sight of a stunning statue of
angel Saint Michel with wings spread out.
In front of the elegant abbey there
was a wide platform overlooking the bay,
rocks and Islands in the distance.
From the main hall went to prayer place
of monastery -
singing activities were held here every
religious celebration.
The passage to the hall was the promenade in the monk's room. Keep going...
It was the hall for monks training.
Mont Saint Michel was carefully planned
by the architect.
Unique abbey.
Monks could pray and practiced their spirituality
in the exclusive space.
Not disturbed by public visits.
Tidal phenomenon,
after the evening the whole mountain was
like floating in the sea.
The sea and the sky merged together,
like the most poetic drawing...
